Ontario MPP resigns from PC caucus, denies alleged link to foreign election interference

An Ontario MPP has resigned from the Progressive Conservative caucus and can sit as an Unbiased, efficient instantly, amid allegations he’s linked to election interference by China.

Vincent Ke denied the allegations, reported Friday by International Information, as “false and defamatory.”

Quoting unnamed intelligence sources, International Information alleged Ke “served as a monetary middleman” in interference schemes by the Chinese language Communist Get together that had been described in two Privy Council Workplace intelligence experiences, which the media outlet had reviewed.

CBC Information has not independently confirmed the allegations. 

“Whereas the International Information allegations about me are false and defamatory, I don’t wish to be a distraction to the federal government and take away from the nice work Premier Ford is doing for the province of Ontario,” Ke stated by way of Twitter.

Ke represents the Toronto driving of Don Valley North and was first elected in 2018. 

Ontario Premier Doug Ford stated he agreed with Ke’s choice and had accepted his resignation.
