Canada benefitted from a late own-goal by Eire to emerge from the primary half of their Girls’s World Cup sport tied 1-1 in Perth, Australia.
Canadian midfielder Julia Grosso’s shot deflected off Eire’s Megan Connolly and into the Irish internet 5 minutes into stoppage time.
The sport didn’t begin effectively for the Canadians, as Irish captain Katie McCabe scored on a nook kick within the fourth minute for an early 1-0 lead. It was Eire’s first purpose ever on the Girls’s World Cup.
Canada drew Nigeria 0-0 in its opening sport of the event, whereas Eire misplaced 1-0 to Australia.
