Organizers for Louisville’s four-day rock pageant Louder Than Life have introduced Oliver Anthony has been added to the lineup.
The 31-year-old Virginian’s viral hit “Wealthy Males North of Richmond” has struck a chord with many. Regardless of saying he turned down an $8 million file deal and didn’t wish to carry out in stadiums, the singer is taking advantage of his newfound fame with a number of upcoming appearances.
“Oliver Anthony is a blazing power consuming the music world like wildfire, and we’re past excited to announce that he’s been added to the Louder Than Life 2023 lineup,” the announcement on social media reads. “You may catch him on Thursday and Friday (Sept. 21-22) at Kroger Huge Bourbon Bar.”
The singer—actual identify Christopher Anthony Lunsford—has a number of upcoming appearances forward of Louder Than Life, too. On September 8-9 he’ll be performing on the Blue Ridge Rock Competition in Alton, Virginia. The next Thursday (September 14) he’s performing on the Poppy Mountain Music Competition in Morehead, Kentucky. After his look at Louder Than Life, he’ll seem at Alley Fest (Oct. 6) in Paintsville, Kentucky and the Huge River Outside Campground (Oct. 7) in Mineral Level, Missouri.
Oliver Anthony is conserving it native, attending music festivals throughout the Southeastern United States. It’s one of many poorest areas within the nation, with an estimated 40% of America’s rural poor dwelling someplace throughout the area between 2014-2018. Whereas Louder Than Life is a rock pageant, Oliver Anthony’s anthem speaks to many who acknowledge the battle he speaks of inside his lyrics.
Oliver Anthony himself has tried to keep away from political pundits on either side of the aisle, both condemning or embracing the music. When the GOP mentioned the music throughout its current debates, the singer mentioned it was humorous to see. “I wrote that music about these folks,” he informed NPR. “I do hate to see that music being weaponized.”
